Quartz crystals are manufactured in a clean environment to assure high-precision Highlights of the major steps in manufacturing

As grown quartz bars - Lumbering - Cutting - Measurement of angel - Precision lapping - Beveling - Etching and cleaning - Base coating - Mounting - Fine frequency adjusting - Annealing - sealing - Aging - Final test and Inspection.

Synthetic Crystal

A product made by fusing Lasca and growing a seed quartz crystal under high temperature and pressure in a container called synthetic crystal growing furnace (Autoclave) filled with alkaline solution which usually requires 30 to 90 days to grow.

Lumbered
Grind axial plane X and Z of synthetic quartz crystal to define crystal axes.
Cutting

To cut synthetic quartz crystal at the prescribed angle which is conformed to each application. The frequency temperature characteristics depend on the cut angle.

Cutting and Dimensioning
To cut and lap a block to make wafers.
Lapping Precision Lapping
To lap a quartz crystal to the extent of the prescribed thickness and frequency.
Cutting and Dimensioning
After pasting together the thickness lapped quartz crystal, process them to the prescribed dimensions.
Beveling
Lap edges of those crystal blank so that they can oscillate easily. (Generally, it applied to the quartz crystal those frequency is less than 10 MHZ)
Etching and Cleaning
Etching process is to eliminate the processed layer that was generated during frequency adjustment lapping process and beveling process is to soak the quartz crystals into chemical solution and wash them later.
Electrode Base PlatingˇDAssembly
Put the washed quartz crystal blank in a evaporation mask and form silver electrode in high vacuum chamber. Then the quartz crystal blank is mounted on a holder and fixed by conductive adhesive.
Frequency AdjustmentˇDSealing
Adjust the frequency of the assembled quartz crystal blank to the target frequency in a high vacuum. After that, sealed it in dry N2 gas.
Precision lapping
Inspect the characteristics of hermeticness, insulation, frequency characteristics, impedance and etc.
